Made to Measure Curtains - Measuring Guide

Simple Steps to Help you Achieve a Perfect Fit

We suggest you grab a pen, note pad and metal measuring tape.

To ensure a more accurate measurement, we recommend the track or pole is fit prior to measuring.

As a guide when fitting your track or pole, allow for a 15-20cm gap above the window and extend 15-20cm either side.

When measuring the length of a pole or track do not include the finials.

We advise that you log the width first and then the drop.

To Achieve Your Desired Curtain Length

There is no set rule on the desired drop of the curtain, this is all down to taste. However, as a guide there are generally 4 styles of drops that seem to be the most popular.

Above the windowsill
1cm above the sill.
Between the windowsill and radiator, the general guide is 2cm above the radiator.
Below the windowsill
15cm below the sill.
Floor Length
1cm above the floor

Pencil Pleat and Pinch Pleat

Curtain Tracks

Ensure you measure the full width of the track, end to end. We recommend that you add 3cm to the measurement to allow for an overlap when the curtains are closed.

To achieve your desired drop, measure from the top of the track, this will ensure the track is covered when curtains are hung.

Curtain Poles

Ensure you measure the full width of the pole, excluding finials.

To achieve your desired drop, measure from the top of the eye of ring to achieve your desired drop.

A Guide to Picking the Right Heading

Eyelets

The classic eyelet header curtain is easy to install and gives soft folds for a no fuss style. Measure from the top of your pole. We add 4cm to your final drop measurement you provide, so please ensure you have left a clearance of at least 4cm above the pole.

Measure your entire pole width, we will then work out the how much width to provide your curtains to ensure they offer enough fullness when drawn closed.

We offer 6 eyelet colours, allowing you the perfect opportunity to match your curtains to your curtain pole and interior colour scheme.

We will e-mail you after you have placed an order to confirm your eyelet colour.

Pencil Pleat

We offer two heading depths within this style, 3inch and 6inch options. Typically, the 3inch header length is ideally suited to a shorter length curtain and the 6inch header is suited to the longer length curtain.

Please note we do not add any measurement on to the measurement drop you provide, the measurement you provide for your drop will be you finished curtain length.

Pinch Pleat

Typically, a Pinch pleat Curtain is a more traditional style instantly creating a more fuller looking curtain.

We offer two heading depths within this style, 3inch and 6inch options. Typically, the 3inch header length is ideally suited to the shorter length curtains and the 6inch header height is suited to the longer length curtain.

Please note we do not add any measurement on to the measurement drop you provide, the measurement you provide for your drop will be you finished.
